  • Partners with Slatecube to create education platform

Leading innovative agribusiness company, Heart and Capital Nigeria Ltd has reinforced its commitment towards capacity building for agripreneurs by providing an online learning solution through its Digital Agribusiness School.

The digital school will host diverse agribusiness courses carefully created and designed by professionals with expert knowledge. The first course to be launched in a series of courses is The Fundamentals of Agribusiness, which lays a strong foundation for what agriculture is as a business, with topics such as; Agribusiness Cycle, Agribusiness Marketing, Agri-finance Fundamentals, Agric Insurance amongst others.

Speaking on the initiative, Umar Adelodun, Co-Founder and CEO of Heart and Capital in his remarks, revealed the reason behind the collaboration between the two brands. “Today, we are unveiling our Digital Agribusiness School which was developed in partnership with one of the leading EdTech platforms in Africa, SlateCube. We have leveraged our experience from mentoring over 8,000 youths on agribusiness across Nigeria and Slatecube’s experience of creating cutting-edge digital and education platforms” Umar said.

He further stated that the accelerated changes caused by the recent global pandemic has changed the manner of living, working and learning, which has made people in the agri sector to now see the need to learn new skills, as the sector now demands higher skills for higher-wage jobs.

In his words, “this affordable course presents an opportunity for people who want to learn the business of agriculture online at their own pace, or who may want to change careers and don't know how to start and don’t have the time or means to access traditional means of education. You are not required to have any relevant experience or a degree in agriculture to take this course and will be awarded a certificate upon course completion”.

Also speaking on the partnership, Chris Kwekowe, the Co-Founder and CEO of Slatecube said "over the years, Slatecube has actively sought to develop African talents for dignified opportunities through structured end-to-end partnerships with industry stakeholders, and we are thrilled to be working with Heart and Capital, a forward-thinking player in the Agriculture and Agribusiness sector to build out digital skills development programmes for said sector. We are optimistic about this partnership and encourage young Nigerians and Africans at large to grab the opportunity accorded them by this partnership to build requisite competencies and also explore opportunities in the Agribusiness ecosystem."

Heart and Capital recorded another milestone by rewarding its Proxy farmers financially. This happened despite the economic challenges posed by the global pandemic in the year 2020. The cashew and fish farming projects were managed by the company but leased out to proxy farmers. It was created to meet the rising product-demand, diversify the income of proxy farmers and support the United Nations climate action goal.

The company which operates hectares of farmland across the country said, “The reward was part of proceeds from the well-rounded performance across the farm projects”.
