About a year ago, on May 21, 2019, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in partnership with Techpoint Africa, held a focus group engagement involving players from key sectors of the Nigerian technology community.
Identifying that a good number of tech businesses required some banking support but were unable to get it for different reasons, the focus group had a goal to provide feedback to the Bank on banking propositions that aligned with the different realities of tech businesses in Nigeria.
Amongst others, having an open API sandbox was a critical feedback provided by key sector players at the round-table discussion.
Rolayo Akhigbe, Divisional Head, Transaction Banking and executive sponsor of FCMB's engagement in the technology ecosystem promised that the Bank would get this delivered.
Today, that conversation has indeed gone beyond just the two/three hour meeting to birthing a physical product -- the innovative open API sandbox to the technology ecosystem, especially for developer communities, technical founders, and fintech startups.
In a webinar scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2020, the open API sandbox will be unveiled and explained in terms of how businesses can integrate, scale, and innovate around this new product.
The webinar session, which will be facilitated by representatives of FCMB, promises to be an interesting one as the Bank is also looking forward to learning how the open API sandbox can serve the tech ecosystem better.
