Applications are now open for the ‘’USPF Changemaker Challenge 2019’’. The Challenge is centered around individuals and teams who have ideas and are building solutions to solve problems around Artificial Intelligence (AI), Fintech (Financial Technology), Disaster & Emergency Management, Digital Transformation & Automation, Business Intelligence & Analytics. The challenge which is designed to follow the pattern of a 3-days Hackathon. Shortlisted candidates stand the chance to win up to N3.5M, and other consolation prizes.
This year’s challenge has been expanded to two(2) regions; Southern region (which will hold in Lagos) and Northern region (to hold in Kano). The events will hold on August 2nd – 4th 2019 in Lagos, and August 23rd – 25th 2019 in Kano.
The Changemaker Challenge was initiated by the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), as part of its efforts to encourage ICT penetration nationwide. The Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), is set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria, to facilitate the widest possible access to affordable telecommunications services in rural, un-served, and under-served areas of the country.
This year’s challenge is themed – ‘’A Break From The Norm: Advancing Humanity Through Technology’’. Asides the prize money, participants stand a chance from the to benefit from:
-Mentorship from/by seasoned startup founder’s and ICT professionals
-Receive feedback on their solutions/ideas
-An opportunity to collaborate with other participants and teams in the program
-A 2-weeks sprint incubation program with lessons and sessions on how to build a great startup
